Middletown High School | Middletown, CT

The $110 million Middletown High School was designed to support 1400 students in 282,000 square feet. The educational facility includes a State Vocational Agriculture wing and other amenities including a exercise gymnasium, pool, shop areas, animal labs and greenhouses.

ECI’s construction contract for the project when completed exceeded $10,800,000.00 and over 77,000 man hours were expended on the project. The project was completed in June of 2009 on time and within budget.

Stafford Springs Solar Fields | Stafford, CT

The Stafford Solar Fields project is unique because it includes acres of solar panels in two completely separate locations. The first is a 954 kW array on a hilltop at the city’s landfill and the second includes two 1.3 MW arrays behind the middle school. In 2015, the town broke ground and by October 2016, the arrays were completed and producing carbon-free electricity not long after.

Home Depot Distribution Center | South Windsor, CT

ECI completed all electrical work for a $50 million, 422,752 sq. ft. Home Depot distribution center in South Windsor, Conn. The center was built to speed up delivery to customers and stores in the region, and included extensive interior, exterior and safety electrical. ECI installed new Switchgear, panels, power to equipment and outlets, security and Telecommunications and temperature control raceways.  The project also included lighting, zoned lighting control systems, three auto transfer switches, dock levelers, outdoor generators, site lighting, gate controls, fire alarms system and BDA system. The work on this project was completed in 9 months.

Guilford High School | Guilford, CT

ECI completed a $7.8 million electrical and systems install for this $92 million, 225,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art new high school. The project included electrical work on band, choir and orchestra rooms, wood and metal shops, as well as a computer graphics center, media center, auditorium, TV studio, three art studios, CAD and electronics\robotics rooms, science, chemistry and physics labs, as well as 43 standard classrooms.  Work included installing classroom LED dimming light fixtures with daylight harvesting sensors, occupancy sensors with building management system (BMS) override, and dimming emergency lighting relays throughout the building (for use during emergency generator operation). ECI installed telecommunications and A\V systems within each classroom – along with CAT 6 Data outlets, wireless local area networks, smart board projectors integrated into the classroom PA speakers, and Infrared Microphone/Transmitters. ECI installed a fire alarm system with building lockdown capabilities and a MASS notification system, security Access controls, video intercom, intrusion detection and video surveillance. This also included a system capable of sending graphic displays directly to police and emergency responder’s vehicles and 125 recordable security cameras throughout the facility.

ECl’s pre-construction team utilized building information modeling (BIM) CAD drawings to lay out the entire electrical project, a crucial step for overall quality control. ECl built many project components in its FAB Shop, saving valuable time and ensuring the highest quality.

Web Industries | Killingly, CT

This project was a fast-track COVID-19 test manufacturing space in an existing building. Over 20,000 square feet of space was fitted out in 4 months. Total cost was $957,286.00; it included new panel boards, auto transfer switch, generator, feeders, lighting and lighting controls and equipment wiring.

Theaterworks | Hartford, CT

Cabela’s | East Hartford, CT

Cabela’s hired Electrical Contractors, Incorporated (ECI) to complete the installation of its comprehensive electrical, data and phone systems, fire/safety, security and lightning protection for the East Hartford store.

Throughout the six-month project, ECI worked closely with designers from Cabela’s to complete the electrical work and achieve the desired elements inside and outside of the hunting lodge-styled 185,000 square foot retail complex. With only six months to complete this comprehensive project, ECI used an expert team of up to 36 electricians working two shifts, performing an estimated 27,500 man hours.

Hartford Hospital | Hartford, CT

ECI worked on this project for over a year and acted as the general contractor for this highly complex electrical service upgrade project for the Bliss Building at Hartford Hospital. Work included two new underground electrical rooms adjacent to an existing substation and required supervision of services including excavation, concrete work, waterproofing, mechanical and HVAC contractors, as well as other finishing trades.

After the structure was completed, ECI began the electrical upgrades including a new double ended 480-volt switchboard, several distribution panels, new medium voltage feeders and switches, 8 Automatic Transfer Switches, new Generator Feeders with M.I. Cable and 2 new risers and panels in the existing 13 story building with new distribution panels on each floor for future expansion. The Bliss Building at Hartford Hospital has a portion of the emergency room, cafeteria, several operating rooms, many radiology suites, CT scan rooms, patient rooms, maternity as well as the Life Star hanger.

Most of the existing electrical feeders were shut down and re-routed through the new electrical infrastructure installed in the new underground rooms. ECI accomplished this with close coordination with the Hartford Hospital engineering staff, nursing, radiology and operating rooms mostly during night time and weekends to minimize the impact of the power disruption. ECI brought in extra personnel to assure that the 34 power shutdowns were completed within the timeframe given to the hospital staff.

Department of Public Health | Rocky Hill, CT

The state-of-the art Department of Public Health laboratory is a three-story, 100,000-square-foot-building, rated for both Bio-Safety Level 2 and Level 3 work, which allows for testing on such potentially virulent agents as tuberculosis and anthrax.

Construction on the West Street site began in 2010 after the State Bond Commission in April approved funding.

The design of the building includes sophisticated safety and security features, such as multiple air-handling systems and biocontainment areas. The property is accessed through a gated entrance and there is 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week security.

Site excavation work was done with painstaking care after additional dinosaur tracks, similar to, and even older than those at the nearby state park, were found. Some of those fossils are permanently exhibited on the property.
