The Legislative Office Building | Hartford, CT

The Legislative Office Building (LOB) was completed in 1988. It is a 5-story building and is connected to the Connecticut State Capitol by an underground concourse that crosses under the highway ramps and a terrace walkway that crosses over the highway ramps.

The LOB is connected to the parking garage by an enclosed bridge that is accessed from the third floor of the LOB and connects to the third floor of the garage. There is also a parking garage under the LOB for committee members.

Electrical Contractors work on both of the garage spaces as well as ten hearing rooms located on two floors. We completed work on the cafeteria and dining room on the first floor in addition to the committee offices and legislator offices located on the upper three floors.

State Capitol | Hartford, CT

For this Connecticut landmark, ECI completely reworked the entire electrical system, including security, fire alarms and sound systems. Additionally, we integrated new services into the building including feeders, sub feeders, panel boards and lighting.

The project’s architect and the electrical engineer devised a plan of cutting floor ducts into the individual offices and working everything out of those ducts, including the light fixtures in the offices below. Wiring was also run through the existing fireplace flues which were used as chaises for power, telephone and data cabling. The existing brick walls were also cut up to the locations of the existing gas wall sconces and this was replaced with 120volt lighting. The original gas sconces were refurbished and changed to incandescent lights.

The house and Senate chambers were also re-wired thru crawl spaces below the floors.

Harry A. Gampel Pavilion | University of Connecticut Sports Complex | Storrs, CT

The 8,028-seat Gampel Pavilion at UCONN is designed as a 143-foot high, 320-foot wide dome.  Electrical Contractors, Inc. was challenged by the design of this building as the lighting is hung from aluminum catwalks placed above the seating areas along the rim of the dome – a unique scenario for buildings of this type.  We also installed all electronics including the sound system, electronic scoreboard, TV, satellite and telephone systems, and fire alarm system. ECI also designed and installed power distribution, generator, and lightning protection for the building.

The Bristol Hilton | Bristol, CT

A 35,000 square foot, six-story project was also completed on the same schedule, including the development of 42 suites, a 2,000 square foot Presidential Suite and a new lobby.
